Privacy Policy
Talefold is made by Ahmed Shaikh ("we"). This policy explains what the Talefold app for iPhone and iPad collects and why. The short version: your books and everything you make in them stay with you. We never see them.
What stays on your device and in your iCloud
- The books, PDFs and comics you add, and the classics that come with the app.
- Your reading positions, highlights, notes, drawings, coloring, signatures and scans.
- Your settings.
If iCloud is turned on, Talefold keeps these in step across your devices through your own private iCloud storage. That storage belongs to your Apple Account; we can't read it. Reading aloud uses your device's built-in voice, so the text of your books is not sent anywhere.
Scanning uses your camera, and you can also scan from photos you pick. Images are turned into pages on your device and are not uploaded.
What we collect
We collect two kinds of technical information, with no name, email or account attached:

These never include the text, titles or contents of your books, your notes, drawings, scans or signatures. TelemetryDeck receives an anonymised identifier that cannot be traced back to you or your device. We don't sell data, show ads or track you across other apps and websites.
Purchases
Tips ("Buy me a coffee") are handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple tells us a purchase happened; we don't receive your payment details.
Children
Talefold is a general-audience app. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off iCloud for Talefold in Settings › your name › iCloud to keep everything on one device.
- Deleting the app deletes its data on that device; its iCloud data can be removed in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
- Because crash and usage data is not linked to you, we can't look it up by person. If you have a question or request about your data, write to support@talefoldapp.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If we add features that change what we collect, such as accounts or AI narration, we will update this policy before they ship and change the date above.
